Trio at the Top
In round 6 GM Igor Khenkin played a very convincing game and Rombaldoni hadn’t any chance. Krivoborodov sacrified a figurine against Maryasin and also won quickly.
Ortmann against Shengelia played evidently only for a draw and changed figurines as many as possible. With reduced material Shengelia made a speculative sacrifice and finally succeeded with his routine.
Khenkin, Krivoborodov and Shengelia are not at the top with 5 ½ of 6. If one of them will win in round 7 he will have best chances to be the winner of the Vienna Chess Open. But also 15 players with half a point behind are hoping for the victory.
Any chance for the first place with only 4 points have the GM’s Gleizerov, Degraeve and Hera.
